About the Conference
From 1 to 3 April 2019 Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) will host the Annual Research Conference. This year for the first time the event is going global. The motto of this year's conference is "Knowledge for Use in Practice" with a focus on cardiovascular health, oncology and haematology, women’s and children’s health, infectious diseases, mental health and neurosciences, dentistry and pharmacy.
The Conference will be held within the framework of RSU Research Week 2019. Additionally, on 3 April focused thematic conferences will take place covering the following areas – digital pathology, the complementarity principle in studying metabolic disorders, orthopaedics and traumatology, rare clinical cases, public health and health system management, and university paedagogy.
The conference programme will include over 250 oral and poster presentations and a number of research-related activities – thematic conferences, symposiums, discussions, clinical case presentations, an industry exhibition, ideation activities and guided tours. The submitted abstracts within each thematic field will be reviewed by an International Scientific Committee.
The Third Baltic Sea Symposium on Simulation and Virtual Reality for Education in Health Care and Patient Safety will be a special event. The symposium will be held on 2 April in several venues at the same time – in Rīga, as well as in RSU study and clinical bases in Liepāja and Daugavpils, thus providing a wide range of professionals with the opportunity to participate in the conference online.

On 4 April RSU students will take up the baton as they will be organising the Student International Scientific Conference – the largest conference for young scientists in the Baltic States that will be a global event for the fifth year in a row.
